About The Role

As a Product Owner in Home Loans, you are responsible for ensuring the squad achieve their mission. The Product Owner constantly prioritises tasks and the squad's backlog with the customer at the heart of their decision making. The Product Owner also ensures that the work is strategically aligned to the tribe mission and engages with other Product Owners to align and manage interdependencies. Whilst this role is not a people manager, it is a key leadership role, galvanising the squad around a vision and supporting them to successfully deliver customer value at pace.

What will your day look like

As a Product Owner, your role is to enable and inspire a multi-disciplinary team to pursue its mission, by guiding them on what work should be completed by the squad. The Product Owner constantly prioritises tasks and the squad's backlog with the customer at the heart of their decision making. The Product Owner also ensures that the work is strategically aligned to the tribe mission and engages with other Product Owners to align and manage interdependencies. Whilst this role is not a people manager, it is a key leadership role, galvanising the squad around a vision and supporting them to successfully deliver customer value at pace.

This Product Owner role will have responsibilities across two areas:

Squad: This role sits in an Initiatives and Delivery squad and will be responsible for driving and managing the elaboration through to the implementation of projects and initiatives across multiple platforms.

Tribe: By enabling the squad to complete their work, you will be contributing to our strategic objectives and managing the Tribe's risk profile.

What will you bring

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Have demonstrable experience in project delivery both business and technology
  • Ability to actively engage in the whole delivery lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, operation, monitoring and refinement) of systems and services
  • Be a strong influencer, have the ability to communicate and work with multiple stake-holder groups and have particular strength in bringing multiple teams/capabilities together to achieve a single mission
  • Prioritisation, planning and scheduling techniques and the ability to leverage and apply the most appropriate delivery methodology to ensure the best outcome
  • Strong risk and issue management capabilities and experience
  • Demonstrates in-depth customer & business insights and acts as an advocate to enhance the customer experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including experience of leading large teams, coaching and mentoring a team
  • Maintains commitment to change; engages with others to gain buy-in and act as an advocate for continuous improvement. Proactively identifies, support and drive opportunities for change
  • A problem solver energised by tackling complex problems. Using critical thinking, network, skills, knowledge and available data to drive better outcomes for our customers and the bank
  • A background/understanding of home loans and familiarity with the tools and processes in those areas will be favourable.
