Role Overview
We are seeking a Design Lead to guide and support our team in creating user experience-centered designs that solve problems and meet business KPIs for web and mobile platforms. In this role, you will oversee and mentor senior designers, ensuring that designs are visually compelling, intuitive, and interactive.
You will work closely with product managers, developers, and other designers to ensure that design solutions align with business goals and user needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in UX/UI design, a strong portfolio of successful projects, and a proven ability to manage multiple projects and team members simultaneously.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Client Management & Engagement: Lead and participate in client calls to represent Thence, get clear requirements, manage expectations, and identify farming and mining opportunities. Present solutions/concepts, implement feedback changes, and handle escalations maturely.
- Design and Documentation: Set expectations and provide direction for the team to create architecture, flow diagrams, wireframes, mock-ups, user journeys, research reports, pitch decks, interview questionnaire, design system, an interaction library, and establish a visual language for the project.
- Project Management and Leadership: Lead multiple projects without escalation or delivery delays, guiding design team members. Plan and conduct sprints, and review meetings. Audit projects, manage delays, and execute quarterly organizational goals.
- Project Requirement Gathering: Lead the collection and validation of project requirements and the creation of Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) for UI, UX, and interaction design projects. Define in-scope and out-of-scope items, identify potential scope creeps, and develop strategies. Set expectations with senior designers on how to approach the requirements to ensure alignment with client needs and project goals.
- Maintain Quality and Depth of Solutions: Collaborate with a cross-discipline team to brainstorm, ideate, and iterate, ensuring designs meet business objectives, resolve user problems, and help achieve KPIs. Drive the creative vision for multi-device experiences, stay current with the latest design and technology trends, and ensure quality deliverables. Maintain CSAT score set by the organization through quality and timely delivery.
- Creating Process and Framework: Develop and update frameworks and documentation templates, establish and refine project delivery processes, and conduct audits to ensure accuracy and effectiveness. Continuously improve documentation based on audit findings and feedback.
- Development Hand-Off and QA: Set expectations for the hand-off process and documentation with the design team. Ensure designs are implemented with pixel perfection, and conduct quality checks to validate interactions, logic, and functionality across devices and resolutions.
- Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and maintain a high-performance, efficient senior design team, delivering high-quality and thorough user experiences. Address performance issues and conduct training sessions for senior designers on soft skills, project management, and communication.
- Communication and Reporting
- Provide weekly reports on project health, team performance, delivery timelines, and client escalations, including proposed action.
- Report on resource utilization and revenue leakages.
- Identify and report on potential farming and mining opportunities.
- Deliver daily updates on sprint progress, tasks, and roadblocks.
Skills Required
- Ability to solve complex design problems and create solutions that meet user needs and business goals.
- Strong understanding of UX principles, usability, user-centered design, and interaction design.
- Experience with user research, user testing, and usability analysis.
- Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction and knowledge of design systems and the ability to create and maintain them
- Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch/ Figma, Adobe Suite and Project Management Tools.
- Proficiency in design principles for iOS, Android, Windows, and responsive web solutions, including atomic design, live style guides, and responsive design principles. Knowledge of HTML/CSS and JavaScript is a plus.
- Experience working effectively in an Agile development environment.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, facilitate collaboration, and engage in design discussions.
- Clear and effective communicator, able to explain design decisions and processes to various audiences.
- Thinks both tactically and strategically with high levels of innovation and self-direction.
Experience/Qualification Required
- 6+ years of experience in UX/UI design.
- Proven experience as a Design Lead or in a similar senior design role, with a track record of leading and managing a design team.
- Experience in managing multiple projects and team members simultaneously.
- A strong portfolio showcasing successful UX/UI design projects and product design work.
- Experience working as a Product Lead/Designer in two or more sectors in-depth, preferably in BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance), Health, SaaS, Automobile, Consumer Internet, or Information Technology.
- A robust portfolio or case studies that showcase visually appealing web and mobile applications, highlighting the metrics they impacted or KPIs they improved. Candidates should be prepared to discuss, demonstrate, and present these works during the interview.
- Educational background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or Architecture is a plus.
