As a Purchase Engineer at Rieco Industries, your primary responsibility will be to manage the procurement of bought-out materials necessary for the companys operations and projects. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all purchased materials meet the required specifications, quality standards, and budget constraints. This position requires strong coordination with suppliers and internal departments to streamline the purchasing process, maintain inventory levels, and support the overall efficiency of the supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Procure materials required as per drawing for day-to-day operations and ongoing projects in accordance with company guidelines and budgets.
- Place purchase orders with approved suppliers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliveries.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to maintain adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
- Coordinate with internal departments such as projects, engineering , production, maintenance, and logistics to determine material requirements and priorities.
- Evaluate supplier quotations, negotiate pricing and terms, and select the most suitable vendors based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Track and expedite orders as necessary to ensure on-time delivery and minimize disruptions to operations.
- Resolve issues related to material quality, quantity, or delivery discrepancies with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase transactions, supplier contracts, and pricing agreements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate risks.
- Stay informed about market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new sourcing opportunities to optimize purchasing decisions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, business or supply chain management is a plus.
- Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in processing purchase orders and maintaining records.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of inventory management principles and practices.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing to travel for vendor development & follow ups.
