Job Summary:
The Process Safety Manager supports department to drive activities for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risks associated with chemical processes to ensure safe and compliant operations. This role involves the development and implementation of process safety protocols, risk assessments, and management systems to prevent accidents and ensure overall PSM compliance at the site.
Key Responsibilities: - Ensure risk assessments and hazard analyses (e.g., HAZOP, PHA, LOPA) for chemical processes are completed to make operations safe.
- Drive implementation of PSM elements for Identify potential safety hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) systems and practices.
- Train people on up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Design and Develop safety procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Guide operations team for proper documentation and communication of process safety protocols to all plant personnel.
- Investigate and analyze process safety incidents, near misses to determine root causes. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct safety training sessions and drills for plant personnel. Promote a culture of process safety and ensure practices are followed.
- Lead audits and inspections of processes, equipment, and facilities. Identify improvements area and ensure timely implementation.
- Review and provide input on process design and modifications to ensure process safety considerations are incorporated.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimize safety in new and existing processes.
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of safety systems such as emergency shutdown systems, fire and gas detection systems, and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Monitor and ensure that updated records of safety activities, risk assessments, and incident reports are available.
- Prepare and present safety reports and metrics to management.
Qualifications: - Education: Bachelors degree in chemical engineering, Process Safety, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Process Safety Professional (CCPS)) are a plus.
- Experience: 10 to 15 years of experience in process safety, in a chemical plant
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of process safety management, hazard analysis, and risk assessment techniques.
- Expertise in process safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
