Purpose of Job
A process Artisan operates process equipment, systems and processes for a specific plant/unit within the Sasol environment to achieve production requirements in a safe manner.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
- Monitor equipment functioning, observe temperature, level, and flow gauges, and perform regular unit checks to ensure that all equipment is operating as it should;
- Record, review operations records, test results, and gauge readings such as temperatures, pressures, concentrations, and flows;
- Check routinely for leakages from flanges/piping, instrumentation, machinery, and equipment identifying and reporting to the supervisor;
- Using logic and reasoning to identify and solve unit problems;
- Participates in shift handover meetings;
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience;
- Perform preventive inspections of process and safety equipment;
- Provides adequate feedback to Supervisor on work progress;
- Participates in root cause analyses, and provides feedback to RCA teams, as well as in risk assessments according to legislation and company requirements to improve safety;
- Maintains good housekeeping and adheres to waste disposal procedures;
- Safe making of Equipment for Maintenance Activities;
- Understand and know the business, drives, and KPIs;
- Execute cleaning and flushing activities operation of applicable equipment, plant inspection and defect reporting;
- Safe start-up and shutdown of equipment and apply and maintain safety in a working environment, as well as participates in shift handover meetings;
- Communicate with Supervisor, Peers, Providing feedback on work progress;
- Participates in root cause analyses, and provides feedback to RCA teams Participates in risk assessments according to legislation and company requirements to improve safety;
- Maintains good housekeeping and adheres to waste disposal procedures Work Independently;
- Understand and know the business, drives and KPIs to contribute to the development of training modules;
- Conducts IMS inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability, working effectively in a team;
- Work closely with Senior Operator, Plant Supervisor, and CCR personnel to ensure plant production is maintained in a controlled and safe manner;
- Attends and interacts in Potential Deviation Analysis and Root Cause Analysis to improve plant safety and stability, play an appropriate role during emergency situations to get the plant back online;
- Give and receive feedback to other disciplines (partners on daily issues) and ensure a good stakeholder relationship management.
- Give input at toolbox talks to improve plant safety;
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities in own work area and improve practices and/or equipment.
Formal Education
Occupational Trade Qualification/Certificate in Engineering: Electrical or Engineering: Mechanical

Experience: 1+ relevant years in Production, Operation, Productivity Management
