Principal User Experience Engineer

The Checkout Experience Engineering team works across and interacts with cross-functional and domain teams within Expedia Group to deliver large, complex technology initiatives and also experience optimizations.As a Principal User Experience Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the booking/checkout experience acrossExpedia,Hotels.com, andVrbosites. Your expertise will guide architecture discussions and influence the direction of our web and backend development initiatives. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to contribute to establishing a vibrant experience engineering community in Gurgaon, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. Our team comprises diverse talents, including Android, iOS, Web (React), Backend (Kotlin), and Full-stack engineers.

What You'll Do
- Mentor team across multiple workstreams and lead stakeholder communication across product owners, operations, partner tech teams and business leaders
- Drive fullstack feature development in a low-latency, high throughput system that is core to our business
- Take architectural ownership for various critical components and systems
- Align the architecture for Checkout Experience platform with overall EG vision.
- Experience writing stable, high quality code to enhance existing service features
- Have a strong eye for the operational aspects such as performance tuning, monitoring, and fault-tolerance
- Prototype creative solutions quickly, and take a project from prototype to production quality
- Demonstrate leadership in mentoring others, establishing standards in documentation and clean code, and setting a professional example to the team
- Develop scalable and highly-performant distributed systems with everything this entails (availability, monitoring, resiliency)
- Communicate and document solutions and design decisions
- Build bridges between technical teams to enable valuable collaborations
- Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and efficient processes
- Learn best practices and how to constantly raise the bar in terms of Engineering Excellence
Who You Are
- 12+ years experience developing production quality code in a professional software engineering role. Experience working in an e-commerce company a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- Proven experience working as fullstack engineer with a focus on Web frontend
- Expertise working on UI - JavaScript and frontend frameworks such as React.js, Server Driven UI, HTML, CSS.
- Extensive experience working with UI micro-frontends
- Experience dealing with cloud based technologies like AWS and distributed real-time processing systems
- Experience with Java, Spring, Node.js and Mongo and other open source non-relational databases
- Track record of building your own test automation and reporting tools to ensure high quality
- Experience with Agile Methodology
- Track record of successfully delivering high quality, distributed services with large transaction volume on a 24x7 operational cycle
- Knowledge of performance testing, application tuning and load testing
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Self-starter, self-driven that enjoys and takes pride in the development work of their team
