As a Principal Software Engineering Manager at KnowBe4, you will play a pivotal role in driving our software engineering initiatives to new heights. Your expertise will shape our product development strategy and ensure the seamless integration of cutting-edge solutions into our cybersecurity offerings.
Responsibilities
- Developing state-of-the-art software solutions to enable KnowBe4 products.
- Leading a team of software engineers to develop cutting-edge solutions that enhance our product offerings.
- Spearheading the design, execution, and deployment of innovative solutions, driving innovation in our cybersecurity products.
- Developing and maintaining the streaming pipeline processing millions of events.
- Developing and maintaining systems for user identification, and entity recognition.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams based out of various geographical locations to understand product requirements, and translating them into actionable software engineering requirements.
- Defining clear project goals, driving timelines, and ensuring that the team delivers results that meet or exceed targets.
- Championing best practices in software engineering, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and security of our software assets.
- Providing mentorship and technical guidance to team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Regularly monitoring and evaluating project progress, identifying opportunities for improvement, and making data-driven decisions.
Requirements
- BS or equivalent plus 12 years technical experience
- MS or equivalent plus 10 years technical experience
- Ph.D. or equivalent plus 10 years technical experience
- 3 years experience managing software development teams
- Full Stack Engineering: Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of 4+ years of successfully leading teams delivering software-driven products in a product development organization.
- Data Pipeline: Experience in developing and maintaining high-scale streaming data pipelines using AWS stack like SQS, SNS, Lambdas, Event Bridge, Step Functions etc
- API Development: Extensive expertise in building and integrating REST-based APIs, implementing best practices of authentication and authorization in enterprise-grade production environments.
- Software Design Principles: Strong understanding and practical application of software design principles such as DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself), KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid), and YAGNI (You Ain't Gonna Need It).
- Cloud Technologies: Proven experience in building scalable products using AWS backend technologies, including EC2, S3, Lambda, Eventbridge, SNS, SQS, etc. Demonstrable knowledge of fundamental cloud concepts like multi-tenancy, scaling out, and serverless architecture.
- Web Frameworks: Expert knowledge in at least one web framework technology, such as Python Django/Flask, Rails, or Express.
- Frontend Technologies: Expertise in one or more frontend technologies like Svelte, React, Angular, or equivalent.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in at least one Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technology, such as HashiCorp Terraform or equivalent.
- Database Management: Working knowledge in relational databases such as MySQL/Postgres and expertise in SQL. Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB and Elasticsearch is preferred.
- Continuous Integration and Deployment: Experience with continuous delivery and integration pipelines, utilizing tools like Docker, GitLab CI, and other automated deployment and testing tools.
- Adaptability: Openness to learning new technologies and programming languages as needed.
- Code Quality: Working experience in developing clean, unit-tested, and secure code.
