Job Overview:
The Principal MTO Designer directly impacts the effectiveness of their team and related team. They exchange ideas and information relating to Material Takeoff effectively. The Principal MTO Designer may work autonomously within established Material Takeoff procedures and practices. They act as a lead, coordinating the work of others. The Principal MTO Designer proposes improvements to processes and methods within the Material Takeoff discipline.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Project Teams to understand project requirements and specifications for various EPCI projects.
Develop detailed material take-off (MTO) designs, ensuring accuracy and completeness according to project scope and specifications.
Prepare comprehensive MTO documentation, including quantity calculations, Bill of Materials (BOM), and material requisition lists.
Conduct thorough reviews of design drawings, schematics, and specifications to identify any discrepancies or issues related to material requirements.
Collaborate with Procurement and Engineering Teams to optimize project timelines and ensure timely availability of materials.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations throughout the MTO process.
Utilize relevant software tools and systems to generate accurate MTO reports and maintain project documentation.
Participate in technical meetings, providing insights and recommendations based on MTO design expertise.
Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering their professional development within the organization.
Stay up to date with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve MTO design processes.Essential Qualifications and Education:
High School Diploma with specialization in Design or Drafting or Engineering Degree in a related discipline. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a similar role within the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation ( EPCI ) industry
Proficiency in using MTO software such as SPOOLGEN, PDS, AVEVA, SolidWorks, and Smart Plant Materials.
Strong understanding of project management principles and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary project environment.
Strong understanding of industry-related codes, regulations, and standards relevant to MTO design.
Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve design discrepancies.
Proactive approach to managing priorities, ensuring timely delivery of MTO designs and related documentation.
Prior experience in mentoring and guiding junior designers is a plus.
Professional certifications or affiliations related to MTO design are highly desirable.
