Data Services organization mission is to provide an easy way to develop advanced analytical and AI applications combining data from across the entire Oracle ecosystem including Databases, Applications, and Object Storages. Data Services already provides a wide array of capabilities for data management and processing, through Big Data Service, Data Catalog, Data Flow, Data Integration Service, and Data Lake. However, the customers must integrate and navigate through these services to implement their use cases such as Lakehouses, AI/ML training, or BI dashboards. We are building a new data product to give customers a single pane of glass where they can load and secure data, author Spark notebooks, define data feeds and pipelines, query data with SQL and share data to others.

We're looking for a software engineer, who is highly adaptable, motivated, and has ability to design, develop and implement OCI cloud solutions in the distributed systems and data processing platforms. Experience in supporting cloud services with strong programming skills in Java, JEE, Rest, Spring, JDBC, and understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, Springboot & Microservices. Cloud Infra development like knowledge of Terraform, scripting will be added advantage. You will be involved in architecture, design, development, and operations of the various aspects of the new service. We are in the early stages of the product development and your contribution will have a deep impact on the design and implementation of the new service.

Responsibilities

Your Responsibilities

As an integral part of the OAC development team you will be responsible for the following,

  • Help drive the next-generation Data Services, with a focus on micro services; using Oracle standard tools, technology and development practices
  • Drive complex areas and do a detailed design of some components.
  • Working directly with architects to ensure newer capabilities are built by applying right design principles
  • Working with remote and geographically distributed teams to enable building the right products, using the right building blocks and making them consumable by other products easily
  • Be very technically hands-on and own/drive key end-to-end product/services
  • Ready to learn and jump into new areas and domains.

Your Qualifications

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent related fields
  • Excellent coding and design skills in Java and related technologies
  • Core Java, JEE, Rest, Spring, Hibernate/eclipse link, JDBC, Microservices, Docker/ Kubernetes, Springboot
  • Familiar with Java open-source and API standards
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies in a dynamic environment
  • Good organization, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with the Agile process will be an added advantage
  • Prior experience in the Data services domain would be an added advantage
  • Exposure to Cloud development skills like knowledge of Terraform, Scripting is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Spark, Kafka and related technology is good to have
  • 5+ Years of experience

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
