Job Overview:
Independent development of conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development, supervising vendor packages for equipment and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of preliminary design calculations & reports for piping systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, expansion joints using COMPRESS software, Mathcad, MS Excel, MS Word or other manual or automated methods.
Review design calculations & reports of peers / vendors
Detail nozzle design (3D parametric design in Solidworks or Inventor, CFD in Ansys)
Detail proprietary equipment design such as particle classification devices, screens, baffles, etc. (3D parametric design in Autocad / Inventor, CFD in Ansys)
Field support to domestic and international customer facilities
Field support to pilot plant & R&D facilities
Domestic and international travel estimated at 10%, at a duration between 1-3 weeks.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Experience should be for 15 or more years
Supervision of Mechanical Engineer levels 1-3
Effectively communicate complex and technical solutions to other engineers and non-engineers
Assists with training other engineers by providing instruction on new technologies and/or specialization.
Supports the development of new technologies and methods.
Is a high level Mechanical Engineer position and is looked to for technical expertise.
Maintains and promotes a focus on Lummus Technologies end product whether engineering, fabrication, R&D, or design & fabrication of proprietary hardware.
Ensures effective communication among other engineering disciplines
Ensures effective management of change
Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and man hour budget control.
Preferred Skills:
Expert Knowledge of ASME, API, ANSI design codes and standards
Experience with PV Elite, AutoPIPE, AutoCAD, 3D Parametric Design software
