Job Description Summary:
The Principal Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for solving complex engineering problems using advanced techniques and serving as a technical consultant in the field of instrumentation. The role involves leading discipline supervision for large or smaller projects, providing technical expertise, and ensuring adherence to engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Supports proposal development, cost estimation, and technical strategy. Builds strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and contractors.
- Team Leadership & Operations: Manages team resources, ensures continuity during absences, mentors employees, and resolves inter-discipline and customer issues. Ensures compliance with health, safety, environmental, and security standards.
- Technical Expertise: Ensures adherence to design standards, prepares and reviews data sheets, specifications, and requisitions for field instruments, DCS, ESD, and Fire & Gas systems. Expertise in offshore instrumentation and LNG systems is essential.
- Project Execution: Manages project scope, cost, and timelines. Implements innovative solutions and addresses project challenges. Oversees quality control and ensures project deliverables are completed.
- Procurement & Site Support: Participates in bid evaluations, prepares equipment specifications, and provides site support during construction, commissioning, and testing phases.
Qualifications:
- Essential: 4-5 year engineering degree with 18+ years of experience in instrumentation. Strong background in industry regulations, codes, and manufacturing standards.
- Desirable: Experience in project leadership, risk management, and quality.
