- The Principal Enterprise Architect, IT Operations role provides technical leadership and is responsible for establishing the direction of end-to-end (E2E) architecture across Global IT, Infrastructure, Security, MA, Middleware, and Innovation
- This role is accountable for IT architecture, application standards, design governance in alignment with EA principles along with business and IT objectives
- This role will be responsible for managing and mitigating any key decisions, guidance or risk associated with EA design or governance activity that impacts the achievement of target architectural outcomes
Essential duties responsibilities: (detailed description)
- Drive EA strategy and planning guidance within IT project/solution activity to ensure understanding and adherence to EA principles and business / IT objectives; provide strategic guidance and cross-functional alignment within EA assessment and governance activity accordingly
- Perform EA assessment activity to ensure EA principles are properly represented and enforced within IT solutions; manage and mitigate any risk associated with architectural conflicts vs. principles or strategies
- Develop and maintain E2E architectural design documentation that accurately and comprehensively represents current and target-state landscape information while informing upstream/downstream integration points within and across the ecosystem
- Identify cross-functional architectural collision points and synergy opportunities across IT demand and active projects to ensure technology investments adhere to global strategies while risk is proactively mitigated; work with demand owners project teams as needed to mitigate resolve
- Represent any technology or architectural landscape input that may inform or influence the advancement of strategic opportunities or risk
- Drive the coordination, alignment and communication of architectural design strategies and decisions across EA, Portfolio Project Management (PPM), Delivery, and Business Partner (BP) teams to ensure proper understanding of impact, risk, and benefit with proper business context
- Partner with EA strategy and planning stakeholders to perform analysis of the current IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and risk while recommending solutions for improvement
- Leverage institutional EA toolsets and systems to capture maintain EA landscape/information updates stemming from solution-related design and governance activity; represent enforce respective operating procedures needed to drive consistency of tool usage
- Lead the development, sustainment, and ongoing improvement of functional capabilities, best practices, processes, and operating procedures associated with EA design and governance; manage respective continuous improvement roadmaps and performance objectives accordingly
- Oversee market and industry trends and information that may inform or influence architectural design approaches; lead tool discoveries and evaluations based on industry best practices and functional objectives
- Represent Enterprise Architecture design governance input within MA activity to ensure inherited platforms are properly assessed, disposed, and executed with respect for EA strategic objectives and standards; track the execution of target MA objectives to ensure realization of outcomes
- Monitor regulatory guidelines (such as privacy laws), compliance-related guidance (such as data retention and audit requirements) to determine impact and resolution guidance on enterprise information architecture
- Maintain regular status updates with IT and EA leadership, guiding the team through problem definition, issue mitigation and work plans, and roadmap development using problem solving principles
- Contribute towards EA performance measurement through the definition of key performance indicator (KPI) targets, status tracking of KPI progress associated with IT solution activity, and performance reporting
Education special trainings:
- Bachelor s degree in Information Systems or General Business (or equivalent) required
Qualifications experience:
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Information Technology, Application/Technology Management, Portfolio Management, IT Governance, and/or Enterprise Architecture focus
- Experience supporting Global IT, Infrastructure, Security, MA, Middleware, and Innovation domains
- Knowledge of EA methodologies, e.g. TOGAF, FEAF, or Zachman framework
- Experience in all phases of an established SDLC methodology
- Experience with analyzing the factors required to rationalize or consolidate application systems
- Experience of building an Information Security system and control framework within a complex, global, federated organization including staffing, controls and financial / budgetary aspects.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization structure with significant emphasis on collaboration and persuasion, rather than relying entirely on command and control.
- Strong communication skills, ability to present complex concepts, risks and strategies to senior management in business terms, while being able to discuss detailed technical aspects with expert Enterprise Architecture and Information Technology teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or other information management systems required
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills required
- Ability to multi-task with frequently changing priorities
