What can you expect
- Successful applicant will be expected to contribute and take ownership of all ETL Testing deliverables and execution, follow all test practice guidelines, and also work in future towards automation of documented test cases for Data warehouse testing.
- Candidate will have to take full knowledge of all the upstream and downstream applications of the Data warehouse and its architecture, productive in executing ETL test cases for releases and follow current test practice in first 30 days. In 60 days understand the overall project test practice and programs, In 90 days understand overall organization test practice and programs.
- Successful applicant will be joining testing team which is responsible for setting up testing processes and ETL/Data pipeline testing for Data and Analytics COE supporting Datalake of different applications in Marsh-IT.
- Mostly the training is in-house but it has been our experience that exposure, at Marsh, to a wide range of tools/software and expertise of existing members of the team have transformed professionals into qualified ETL-BI test engineers with highly marketable and transferable skills.
We will count on you to:
- 2-6 years of demonstrable experience in the IT industry, working as a QA on successful Datalake architectures supporting enterprise scale applications or projects with ETL/ELT data pipelines built on AWS services like S3, Lambda, EMR, Glue.
- Prepare test cases, build SQL queries for testing Datalake and ETL/ELT process and enable walkthrough sessions for stakeholders for reviewing the same.
- Execute test cases and SQL queries on Hive/MongoDB to test the data load with transformations in Datalake
- Build Automation scripts in python to test the data pipelines and ETL/ELT process.
- Provide inputs in test planning and strategizing test approach
- Undertake test execution, document test results and prepare comprehensive test summary/test reports for effective reporting to stakeholders.
- Contribute to estimate the work allocated on test activities for creating/modifying/executing Test cases.
- Identify the discrepancies in data quality/data completeness/data accuracy, investigate the discrepancies to analyze the issues and triage with the development teams for resolving them.
- Document defects and follow the defect management life cycle to track, maintain defect logs and resolve the reported defects.
- Report any anomalies in AWS services and Datapipeline, be part of DWH releases process, ensuring quality assurance in ETL or dashboards fixes.
- Participate in the development of technical documentation and user manuals wherever assigned.
- Be a self-starter and take independent responsibilities proactively.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with team members and all the stakeholders of the project.
- Closely working with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Testers and Development team members on requirements, clarifications and issues to sort out the bottlenecks in quality deliverables on time.
- Builds knowledge on emerging tools, techniques and technologies.
What you need to have:
- Relevant experience and expertise in writing medium to complex SQL queries to validate business logic employed in transformations.
- Good knowledge of Python to create validation scripts for validating data integrity/completeness different sources against Big Data Lake/BI as target
- Strong knowledge of AWS services like Lambda, S3, EC2 etc.
- Relevant experience in validating BI reporting and Visualizations
- Strong knowledge of Data Solution Concepts including Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Data Mart Lake House Architecture and NoSQL Databases (preferably MonoDB)
- Experiences in working with test management tools like JIRA/ADO for test case management, defect management, requirement traceability and dashboards
- Experience in leading teams to deliver projects with high quality test delivery and no production issue leaks
- Good understanding of agile scrum methodology and working in a scrum team.
- Good understanding of testing lifecycle and defect management.
- Exposure on ETL automation and BI dashboard automation frameworks.
