About the Role
Steer is seeking to fill an opening in its India offices for a Principal Consultant with prior transportation transaction advisory and project management experience. Candidates for this position should be highly motivated with a strong capability for critical thinking, a broad range of quantitative research and analysis skills, considerable proficiency using software packages and a particular interest in transportation. This position will be based in our Infrastructure Technical Due Diligence team, and will support the team delivering technical advice to our Clients on potential risks and opportunities for the purpose of financing, acquisition and disposal of major infrastructure assets across the world. We are looking for people with experience and/or an interest in Infrastructure Project Financing, Mergers and Acquisitions, Technical and Commercial Risk Assessment, and, in general, the development of infrastructure projects.
The India office of Steer has been successfully operating for 8 years. We offer a small office environment and the possibility to work on a wide variety of high-profile transportation projects including transaction advisory.
The candidate will have the exciting opportunity to develop a portfolio of new clients within infrastructure transaction market and to support expanding business. He/she will be expected to work effectively with project teams across our international offices and be able to travel in India and overseas if required. Fluency in English and strong communication skills are essential.
Key Accountabilities:
- Service delivery - supporting and/or leading and delivering Technical Due Diligence Advisory services for Concessionaires, Investors and Lenders across the world, and effective communication, internally and with clients
- Project Management of multi-disciplinary teams - typically comprising a mix of skills, competences and cultures from different parts of the world, coupled with external Industry Specialists as required. Each project team size varies depending on the scope and scale of projects and clients requirements. Manage and deliver successful projects (time, cost, quality) as Project Manager.
- Business development - including building internal and external networks, initiating the development of new services/expanding the TDD into new asset types and/or geographical areas, developing meaningful client relationships, and originating/supporting and handling preparation of effective, high-quality proposals
- Lead and/or support with the preparation of clear and concise reports and/or presentations, with information structured to meet the needs of the clients and of the audience
- Conduct thorough site visits, for construction and/or operation and maintenance monitoring purposes, detailed technical due diligence of pavements and structures, and survey monitoring
- Deliver effective proposals and engage in business development, in order to support work winning for the team.
- Proven ability in leading transaction advisory projects to a successful conclusion
- Experience in freight/port/airport transactions will be an advantage.
- Commercial due diligence experience of transport transactions
Work Environment

Steer is committed to ensuring that all its employees are compensated a fair, competitive wage. All initial compensation, regardless of location, may be subject to change as skills, abilities, internal equity and geographic location are taken into account.
