Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Principal Architect with a strong background in software design and architecture in Microsoft Technology stack - .Net, C#, VB, ASP.Net Core/MVC or Blazor. MS-SQL and Azure. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 18 years of overall experience in the software industry, including at least 8 years in enterprise-level software design and architecture.
The Role
- Accountable as the technical owner to multiple stakeholders: our customers, program management team, software engineering teams and quality engineering teams for the architectural transformation and application modernisation of large legacy software systems.
- Accountable for defining and optimising legacy application modernisation and architecture transformation strategy, including the definition of end-to-end to-be system architecture and solution designs.
- Advisor to Quality Engineering Lead / Test architect to validate the As-Is and To-Be outcomes
- Lead requirements gathering, design end-to-end software solutions, and document functional, technical, and deployment architectures.
- Help Program management, software engineering and quality assurance teams in planning and continuously optimising high-level program increment plans across various workstreams.
- Provide and optimise high-level estimations with a work breakdown structure for each engineering workstream.
- Guide the technical team and program management teams to create and optimise a prioritised backlog of work items across engineering work streams.
- Closely support the development teams throughout the program execution to gain a deep understanding of customer expectations in terms of business priorities, architecture principles, design principles, coding guidelines, and quality assurance strategy, ensuring that this insight is relayed back to the Version 1 team.
- Review low-level design and code that are of high importance or against the critical path.
- Help resolve critical design and technical issues.
- Lead cross component / cross team defect triages.
- Drive non-functional requirements, design and architectural concerns related to security, performance, scalability, observability, and user experience.
- Be part of Program Change Control Board to prioritise and approve change requests and deployments.
- Guide development teams to conduct successful customer demos.
- Review technical / functional documentations as needed.
- Set direction for system testing and review test strategies and cases.
Qualifications
- 18+ years of overall software industry experience.
- 8+ years in software design and architecture at the enterprise level.
- Proven experience driving functional, technical, and deployment architecture in large application modernisation architecture/platform transformation programs.
- Proven experience leading and participating hands-on in defining end-to-end solution design in large application modernisation, and architecture/platform transformation programs.
- Proven experience in writing architecture and solution design specifications.
- Strong understanding of requirements collections, design patterns and architecture styles, e.g., -
- Expertise in microservices architecture, services design, application design, and database design.
- Strong understanding of OOPs concepts, SOLID principles, and design patterns such as MVVM and component-based architecture.
- Strong experience in driving solution design and development to support non-functional requirements like security, performance, scalability, disaster recovery, observability, UX etc.
- Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, and Visio.
- Has strong experience in working with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks such as Entity Framework Core and Dapper.
- Hands-on experience with VB, .NET, C#, Web API, MS-SQL, HTML, CSS, and JQuery.
- Proficiency in Azure services, including App Services, Functions, and Container Apps.
- Hands-on experience developing ASP.Net Core or Blazor Sever and Blazor WebAssembly applications.
- Familiarity with SPA (Single Page Application) framework components-based model.
- Hands-on experience developing complex Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Views in Azure SQL Server.
- Willingness to work in the UK / Sweden timezone to collaborate with international teams and clients from India.
- Strong experience in Agile development.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly driven, proactive, team player and a natural people leader.
