We are looking for a
Principal Analyst to join our Short-Term refining and product markets team in India. Our Short-Term refining and product markets team is responsible for the development of the short-term outlook for refinery product supply balances and pricing analysis; a key output of our market fundamentals service. The focus of the role will be to coordinate and manage the input from our global team of refining analysts and lead our Asian short-term refining and product markets outlook. You will lead the detailed analysis of the latest global and Asian refining and product markets outlooks, supply fundamentals, product pricing and crude differentials. You will manage regular reports and updates on the market, authoring comprehensive topical insights and analysing current refining trends.
Key Responsibilities -
As part of a world-class team of industry experts in the Oils Research Team, you will analyse all aspects of the global short-term refining and products markets, assessing key events and commercial developments.
- The role offers the opportunity to develop forecasting and other analytical techniques, as well as enhance your industry knowledge, by working with our experienced oils research team.
- You will generate a detailed view of the Asian short-term refining and oil products markets, whilst working together with the broader team to develop our global view.
- You will be a source of insight, internally and for clients, on the structure and trends in the Asian refining and products market.
- As part of a team you will review, prioritise and analyse industry data and information, populate and run proprietary models to support the production of short-term refining supply, pricing and market forecasts.
- You will use the results of this work to produce quantitative analyses and qualitative reviews of the highest quality: thought-provoking articles, presentations, and reports.
- You will become comfortable articulating Wood Mackenzies Short-term refining and product markets outlook and the broader downstream oil market to clients and prospects. Through research trips, client interactions and industry events you will pro-actively build your network to understand the key topics and challenges in the industry.
- You will address these in your contribution to our regular research deliverables and through the development of specific articles and webinars
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have a refining or oil product markets background with a high degree of numeracy and analytical acumen. He or she should have the ability to work under pressure and within challenging time frames without compromising accuracy and rigor. The role offers an opportunity for the right individual to become a key member of the downstream team within Wood Mackenzies evolving global research business.
- You are highly numerate, with a strong attention to detail and proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- This enables you to formulate leading-edge analysis from a variety of data and information.
- You are focused on continuous improvement and implementing better ways of working. Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Bi and PowerPoint) is essential, coding experience will also be beneficial with the ability to automate data workflows.
- You have effective interpersonal and communication skills. This includes the skills necessary to present your findings to industry participants at a range of levels and to effectively communicate complex and detailed market analysis with clarity and impact.
- You have a proven ability to work as part of a team, making a tangible contribution to team goals, involving multiple locations.

Role

- Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline such as engineering, economics or related science
- Minimum 4 years relevant experience in refining/ oil product markets/ Oil /Petroleum Industry
- Good understanding of crude and refined products markets, trade flows, pricing
- Good with numbers and strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience working at a refinery/chemical site will be a plus
