- Design and developmentPLC programmers design and develop control programs for machines and systems. They use diagrams to conceptualize processes and then write programs using automation software and programming languages.
- Maintenance and troubleshootingPLC programmers maintain and troubleshoot PLCs and the machines and plants they control. They may also perform fault diagnosis to identify and fix sources of error.
