nThe Opportunity
nA Data Platform Engineer is responsible for building the building blocks (Infrastructure, Pipelines, frameworks), maintaining, creating reusable frameworks and patters using cloud-native tools and Takeda approved COTS technologies that data solutions and platforms can leverage. They work closely with Architects, Product Owners, and Engineering teams to understand their needs and build data infrastructure and patterns to support complex data use cases aligning with Takedas Data & Digital strategy. To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should have a strong background in cloud/software engineering, experience with Data foundation, Integrations, AWS and its underlying services; and a passion for modern technology postures like Data Lakes, Data Mesh, Data Fabric, AI/ML and solutions.
nResponsibilities
nThe Data Platform Engineer builds platforms foundation, frameworks, and tools for Data teams at Takeda, such as Integration, Cloud, machine learning and Advanced analytics tools. We enable technology and products that acerates the Data engineers, Data scientists and architects to build the data solutions that helps business make decisions that have a significant impact on Takeda.
nBuilding platform patterns and foundational frameworks in driving new processes using cloud native/COTS tooling and infrastructure-as-code.
nBe responsible in developing product mindset, time-to-market, Automation, CI/CD, self-service, governance, security, agile, team member, resilience, and user centric mindset.
nBe responsible for the planning, implementation, and growth of the Cloud Infrastructure.
nData Platform engineers needs to ensure all the governance, process, security, costs, privacy, reusability, business/technology resilience, Optimized, scale, user experience, self-service and auditability are incorporated into the Data Platforms and frameworks.
nData Platform engineers pair with product and solution engineering teams to understand their needs and build data infrastructure to help them solve complex data use cases; creating practical, useful, and flexible tools, processes, and code to help deliver the solutions at scale to a huge swath of data solutions.
nThe primary goal is the reduce the time to market for Solution/technology build, delivery adhering to Well Architected frameworks. The engineer is responsible to adher and enforcement.
nBe responsbile in implementing in finops, cost optimization, automation and sysops
nImplement data services to meet target architecture and business solutions.

nWork with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to assess applications, software, and hardware.
nDevelop, coordinate, and administrate Cloud infrastructure (IaaS, PaaS, Saas) and On-prem.
nAutomate deployments, infrastructure as code using Terraform and ansible.
nBe responsilbe in building serverless infra/solutions with containerization, (Kubernetes, Docker)
nOversee governance and mitigate risk. Ability to implement the cost saving measures is must.
nWork with cloud engineering, Operations teams to design and develop cloud native systems.
nCreate, build, and implement applications based on modern cloud design patterns and cloud software development that utilizes cloud computing and services in public, private, and hybrid clouds environments.
nLeverage cloud native services to drive innovation and increases speed to market in the software development life cycle.
nWork with technology, external and internal teams and vendor as needed.
nMaintain application DevOps processes (CI/CD) and deployment pipelines to implement and support application and feature releases.
nAssist in system migration to the cloud, supporting refactoring legacy system to modernize the application or integration services to leverage cloud native services and solutions.
nContinue to learn and grow professionally as a cloud native engineer.
nBuilding data infrastructure and ensuring the business and technology needs; Knowledge and experience across the infrastructure stack is critical.
nThe role involves working with highly cross-functional, and collaboration across all mediums with business stakeholders, software engineers, data scientists, and data engineers across all of Takedas business units requires good communication skills.
nParticipate in planning, definition, and high-level design of integration solutions; explore architectural alternatives, aid teams in identifying technologies and making architectural decisions.
nWork with highly demanding environment and work with team members.
nManage AWS services and implement AWS services for solutions.
nBuilding repeatable processes for Cloud cost optimization and compliance activities
nCollaborate with Cross Enterprise teams to implement and collaborate on platform services.
nDetermine the necessary technology competencies for teams together with unit leadership.
nParticipate in release preparation and planning to determine necessary architectural improvements according to architecture roadmap and current priorities in unit backlog.
nSkills and Qualifications
nBachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Technology with 5 years relevant work experience or masters degree with 3+ years experience.
n3+ Experience in modern Data Platforms and Cloud infrastructure
n3+ Experience with cloud platform, preferable Amazon Web Services (AWS). Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Azure would be nice to have.
nExperience with Data Services, Serverless, Containers, Identify, Security, Privacy, Active Directory, Encryption/Decryptions, API, Streaming, Linux/Unix operating systems, web, and application servers.
nGood foundation working in Enterprise Environments, Data Warehouse, Data Lakes, ETL/ELT, Advanced Analytics, AI/ML, DevOps, sysops and Data Management
nExperience in agile development. Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments in a globally distributed organization.
nStrong communication skills with ability to align organization on complex technical decisions.
nExperience developing full stack Product/solutions and utilizing software build and deployment tools like GIT or similar technologies.
n3+ years of experience developing full stack solutions and utilizing software build and deployment tools
n3+ years of cloud native language experience (Lambda, shell, Node.js, Python)
nExperience working with IaaC languages (Terraform (preferable),Chef, Ansible, CloudFormation)
nStrong understanding of the organizations goals and objectives.
nGood knowledge of applicable data privacy practices, laws and regulations.
nExceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
nExcellent technical architecture and technical support documentation skills.
nAbility to research issues (Technical/non-technical), standards, and products as required.
nAbility to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
nExperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
nDemonstrated ability to interpret technical information and apply it to corporate goals.
nStrong problem solving, troubleshooting skills, and experience with FinOps or SysOps experience,

nExperience in designing the cloud build, CI/CD and deployment tools (Git, Beanstalk, OpsWorks, CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy) PC, EC2, S3, EBS, EFS, VPC, SG, NACL etc)
nStrong verbal and written communication skills
