As we prepare to open-source certain parts of BeCause while keeping its core systems proprietary, we are looking for a skilled Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team.
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Platform Engineer to play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of the core systems of the BeCause platform. This individual will be instrumental in balancing our open-source initiatives with our proprietary technologies, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, and capable of supporting a global user base. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in platform engineering, a deep understanding of both open-source and proprietary development environments, and a commitment to creating impactful technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, deploy, and maintain the core systems of the BeCause platform, focusing on scalability, security, and performance.
- Work closely with product management and engineering teams to integrate open-source and proprietary components seamlessly.
- Lead the design and implementation of a robust infrastructure that supports both the open-source community and proprietary business needs.
- Collaborate with the legal team to ensure compliance with open-source licenses, intellectual property rights, and copyright laws.
- Engage with the open-source community, encouraging contributions while managing the integration of these contributions into the platform.
- Continuously evaluate and incorporate new technologies and frameworks to enhance the platform's capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to the team's growth and excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in platform engineering, with a strong background in developing scalable, high-performance systems.
- Proficiency in a range of programming languages (especially Go, work with Python, Java, C++ would be a plus) and open-source technologies.
- Experience with both open-source and proprietary software development environments.
- Solid understanding of software licensing, copyright, and intellectual property issues as they relate to software development.
- Familiarity with cloud services such as Google Cloud (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS) and containerization platforms such as Kubernetes. Additional experience preferred with other cloud services (Azure, Digital Ocean), containerization (Docker), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a creative and innovative approach to technology solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional team.
