Job Description
Position Overview:
The Plant Head will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations at our phosphatic fertilizer
manufacturing unit. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SSP industry with a proven track
record of leadership and operational excellence. Experience in heavy industries such as cement or
chemical manufacturing is also acceptable.
Age: 45 - 53 years
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management:
Lead and oversee all operational activities at the manufacturing plant to ensure efficient
production and timely delivery of high-quality phosphatic fertilisers.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimise plant
performance and maximise productivity.
Monitor plant operations closely to identify and address any issues or bottlenecks that may
arise during the production process.
Implement best practices for safety, health, and environmental compliance to ensure a safe
working environment for all employees.
2. Production Planning and Control:
Develop production plans and schedules in coordination with the demand forecast to meet
customer requirements and achieve production targets.
Monitor production metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress against
targets and identify areas for improvement.
Implement measures to optimise production efficiency, minimise downtime, and reduce
production costs without compromising product quality.
3. Quality Assurance and Control:
Ensure that all manufactured products meet quality standards and specifications through
rigorous quality control measures.
Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to maintain consistency and
reliability in product quality.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of the production process to identify and address
quality issues promptly.
4. Maintenance and Reliability:
Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure the reliability and availability of
plant equipment and machinery.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule preventive and predictive maintenance
activities to minimize unplanned downtime.
Implement reliability improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance and extend
asset life.
5. Team Leadership and Development:
Provide leadership and direction to the plant operations team, including supervisors,
technicians, and operators.
Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement to drive
operational excellence.
Develop and mentor team members to enhance their skills and capabilities and create a
high-performance work environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Advanced
degree or MBA is preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in a leadership role in SSP or heavy industries such as cement,
chemical manufacturing.
Proven track record of successfully managing and optimizing plant operations to achieve production
targets and quality standards.
Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems related to
phosphatic fertilizer production.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire
teams to achieve results.
Sound understanding of safety, health, and environmental regulations and compliance
requirements in an industrial setting
