Position Overview
The Production Planner will be pivotal in managing core planning activities, including order acceptance, scheduling, setting delivery dates, and ensuring on-time delivery. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond swiftly to changing production needs.
Key Responsibilities
Order Acceptance and Scheduling:
- Receive and process customer orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Develop production schedules based on order requirements, production capacity, and inventory levels.
- Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to clarify order details and resolve discrepancies.
Delivery Date Management
- Determine and communicate delivery dates for customer orders, balancing customer expectations with operational capabilities.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet delivery commitments.
- Proactively communicate any delays or issues affecting delivery timelines.
Proactive Planning And Alerts
- Anticipate production bottlenecks or capacity constraints and take preemptive action to avoid delays.
- Monitor order bookings and production capacity to identify low booking periods or potential overbooking situations.
- Collaborate with procurement and inventory management teams to ensure adequate stock levels to support production schedules.
Performance Monitoring And Reporting
- Track and analyze production metrics, such as on-time delivery performance and production efficiency.
- Generate reports and provide insights to management on production status, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Implement corrective actions and process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with manufacturing, quality assurance, and logistics teams to coordinate production activities and resolve operational issues.
- Foster a collaborative environment to promote continuous improvement and adherence to production schedules.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding production planning and scheduling matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a production planner or scheduler in a manufacturing environment, preferably in textiles or similar industries.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
