Job Description

Location: Bengaluru (Bommanahalli)

Role: Placements & Partnership Officer

  • Build strong relationships with employers, training partners and education institutions ensuring effective referral, placement and monitoring systems are in place for youth.
  • Support youth during their self-development and skills training ensuring trainees are placed in positive outcomes and placements are successful.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support youth to achieve the skills training, mentoring and employer activities outlined in their individual Personal Development Plans.
  • Engage and motivate youth positively at all times ensuring youth are aware of their weekly timetables and attend the correct sessions.
  • Deliver a sharp focus on achieving successful youth placements in work, training or further education and supporting youth to sustain these for 6 months.
  • Effectively utilize and leverage partnerships at all levels
  • Broker partnerships with external training organisations and colleges that will enable youth to ahieve their desired job or education outcome.
  • Responsible for mapping institutions (government / NGO/ private and corporate foundations) that provide skills training opportunities in the local areas.
  • Arrange exposure visit/job fair, guest lectures on varied topics depending on youth as well as market need
  • Carry out mock interviews, placement support and post placement follow up.
  • Create and follow clear referral processes with training partners and employers.
  • Monitor youths attendance and performance with partner organisations and employers.
  • Support youth after their placements to ensure that they retain their engagement and sustain themselves in work or education placements for up to 6 months.
  • Work with colleagues in the Youth Development teams at district and regional level to continuosly improve the quality of Magic Bus Livelihoods (employment and training) and ensure our work is always safe and enjoyable.
  • Undertake data collection and reporting duties that demonstrate the effectiveness of the Livelihoods programme.
  • Act as a role model at all times demonstrating behaviour that displays the characteristics youth should develop to be successful in their chosen field.

Desired Competencies:

  • Should have sector based knowledge; market awareness
  • Ability to build positive relationships with youth and motivate individuals to achieve defined targets of taking up work or further education.
  • Strong partnership building credentials with ability to tailor style and methods when working with employers (and employee volunteers), training partners, specialist organisations.
  • Excellent team worker with strong oral and written communication skills including good level of professional English.
  • Empathy- ability to work with youth
  • Well organised working style with excellent time management skills.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends occasionally as required by programme.
  • Ability to collect and process delivery evidence and data in line with key performance indicators for the programme
  • Strong negotiator and ability to manage relationships

Qualification and Experience (essential unless otherwise stated):

  • Relevant degree or similar professional qualification from a reputed institution.
  • Experience of working with and achieving positive outcomes for disadvantaged 17-25 year olds or a portion of this age range.
  • Knowledge of youth needs with regard to progressions into work or further education.
  • Experience of partnership working including referrals and monitoring partner delivery.
  • Experience of either employability skills, job placement, youth development or vocational training programmes either directly or indirectly (desirable)
  • Experience of reviewing progress against individuals training programme targets (desirable)
  • Experience of engaging with wider stakeholders in disadvantaged communities including parents, schools, colleges, panchayats.
  • Experience of providing guidance to young people on a range of development issues.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 25,000.00 - 30,000.00 per month
