Burns & McDonnell India is looking for an experienced Piping Engineer interested in growing their
careers in an organization listed among top 100 Great Places to work in India. The Global Facilities
(GFS) business unit handles engineering of facilities in the North America region which includes food &
beverage facilities, consumer product facilities, aerospace facilities, life sciences facilities, hyper scale
datacenters, commercial facilities, healthcare facilities and utility plants. The Mumbai office has a full
complement of professionals with expertise in architecture, civil, electrical, control & automation, fire
protection, mechanical, structural engineering, and project management.
The successful candidate will be responsible to develop designs for new projects, alterations, and
redevelopments on a variety of life sciences projects including biotech, pharmaceutical and medical
devices manufacturing. The candidate will work closely with USA-based life sciences piping team lead.
Piping engineer will lead the project team throughout the design and construction process, to develop a
clash free design by considering the process needs, client preferences, industry standards, codes, and
regulations and within the budget and schedule constraints. The piping engineer will report to the
mechanical department manager and could evolve as a piping section manager as team grows.
Job Duties:
Lead piping design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project
needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
Assists in the development of various piping activities and preparation of deliverables as
identified in the functional competencies as necessary.
Preparation and review of engineering deliverables such as piping and valve material
specifications, valve datasheet, paint specifications, insulations specifications, piping specials
specifications, valve list, line list, piping general arrangement drawings, piping spool drawings,
flexibility analysis, etc.
Plan and prepare piping layouts to analyze the space requirement, road access, maintenance
space, equipment spacing, pipe rack requirement, support and flexibility requirements, and
safety standards.
Knowledge of piping design documents.
Review of 3D Model, clash checks and its resolution.
General mechanical and plumbing design experience is a plus.
Provide technical and design guidance to project team members.
Responsible for adhering to company adopted QA/QC procedures.
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
Responsible for effective coordinating and collaborating with other engineering disciplines.
Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an institute of repute.
Master's degree will be substituted for 1 years experience.
Minimum 10 to 15 years related professional experience. Candidate with consulting experience
is preferred.
Strong knowledge of standard piping engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and
demonstrated critical thinking skills.
