The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for providing support to the pharmacist and pharmacy team in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy. This role involves handling prescriptions, managing inventory, and assisting customers with their pharmaceutical needs.
Prescription Handling:
- Assist in receiving and processing prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
Prepare and package medications for dispensing under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Verify patient information and ensure prescriptions comply with legal requirements.
Customer Service:
- Greet customers and provide assistance with their pharmaceutical inquiries.
Offer advice on over-the-counter medications, following protocols and guidelines.
- Handle customer complaints and escalate issues to the pharmacist when necessary.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain inventory levels by ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmaceutical supplies.
Conduct regular stock checks and assist in inventory audits.
- Ensure proper storage of medications and manage expiry dates.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, inventory, and customer transactions.
Operate the cash register and handle transactions efficiently.
Adhere to all pharmacy regulations, policies, and procedures.- Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
Support the pharmacist in maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.
Senior Secondary school diploma or equivalent (12th).
- Certification or diploma in Pharmacy (preferred but not required).
Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is an advantage.- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic knowledge of pharmacy operations and medications.
Primarily indoors in a pharmacy setting.- May involve standing for extended periods.
Interaction with customers and healthcare professionals.
