Job SummaryThe Pharmacist will play a key role in the operations of the fertility clinic by managing the preparation and dispensing of medications, including fertility treatments, and ensuring patient safety through appropriate prescription review. They will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to deliver high-quality care to patients undergoing fertility treatments.
Key Responsibilities:
Medication Dispensing:
- Prepare, dispense, and distribute fertility-related medications, including hormonal therapies, IVF medications, and other prescribed drugs.
- Ensure correct dosage, labeling, and packaging of medications.
Patient Counseling:
- Provide counseling to patients on medication usage, side effects, storage, and adherence.
- Offer support for patients undergoing complex fertility treatments by answering medication-related queries.
Prescription Review and Verification:
- Accurately review and verify prescriptions for fertility treatments, ensuring no errors or drug interactions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fertility medications and treatment protocols.
Inventory Management:
- Manage stock levels of fertility-related drugs and supplies.
- Ensure proper storage conditions, expiration checks, and replenishment of fertility medications.
Collaboration with Healthcare Providers:
- Work closely with fertility specialists, nurses, and lab technicians to ensure timely and effective treatment for patients.
- Participate in treatment planning discussions to optimize medication protocols.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory standards regarding the storage, distribution, and use of fertility medications.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient prescriptions, dispensing, and pharmaceutical interventions.
Continuous Learning:
- Stay informed about advancements in reproductive medicine, particularly concerning new drug therapies and fertility treatments.
- Attend relevant training and educational seminars.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD). Post-graduate training in reproductive medicine or IVF pharmacy is a plus.
- Licensing: Valid license to practice as a pharmacist.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a clinical or hospital pharmacy setting. Experience in fertility treatments or IVF medications preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of fertility drugs and hormonal treatments.
- Excellent communication and counseling skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple prescriptions accurately.
