*Job Title:* Pet Food Technologist

The Pet Food Technologist is responsible for the development and improvement of pet food products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, nutrition, taste, and safety. This role involves conducting research, formulating new recipes, improving existing products, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Pet Food Technologist works closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Production, and Marketing, to bring innovative and nutritious pet food products to market.

*Key Responsibilities:*

1. *Product Development:*

- Develop new and innovative pet food products based on market trends, customer feedback, and nutritional requirements.

- Formulate recipes and prototypes for new products, ensuring palatability, nutritional adequacy, and cost-effectiveness.

- Optimize existing products to improve quality, taste, and nutritional value.

2. *Research and Analysis:*

- Conduct research on ingredients, nutritional science, and pet food industry trends.

- Analyze the nutritional content and performance of pet food products.

- Collaborate with suppliers to source new and improved ingredients.

3. *Compliance and Quality Assurance:*

- Ensure all products comply with relevant regulatory standards and company policies.

- Conduct quality control checks and sensory evaluations.

- Maintain accurate documentation of formulations, ingredient specifications, and testing results.

4. *Cross-functional Collaboration:*

- Work closely with Production teams to ensure scalability and manufacturability of new products.

- Assist Marketing teams with technical information for product launches and promotional materials.

- Provide technical support and training to sales and customer service teams.

5. *Continuous Improvement:*

- Identify opportunities for process improvements in product development and production.

- Implement best practices for formulation, testing, and quality control.

- Stay current with advancements in pet nutrition and food technology.

*Qualifications:*

- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Nutrition, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

- Strong understanding of pet nutrition, ingredient functionality, and food safety regulations.

- Proficiency in data analysis and relevant software tools.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

*Preferred Skills:*

- Experience with extrusion and manufacturing processes for pet food.

- Knowledge of AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) guidelines.

- Familiarity with global pet food market trends and regulatory environments.

*Working Conditions:*

- Laboratory and office environment.

- Occasional travel to manufacturing sites, suppliers, and industry conferences.
