Your challenge:
Reporting to the Payroll Director, the Payroll Associate will support our global payroll workstream for our 600+ employees across the US, Sweden, and India. The role is an integral part of the international accounting and finance team with a critical relationship to our human resources team. As our new Payroll Associate, you will be responsible for supporting our Payroll Director with the global payroll functions including preparing, reviewing, and processing, the time cards, the payroll and the commissions for the company's employees in a timely and accurate manner, and in compliance with government regulations.
Here are some things you will tackle:
Teamwork
- Work with Human Resources, a key partner, to support payroll efforts related to employee onboarding and offboarding
- Support Payroll, Finance, and HR report processing and analysis with particular attention to GL and tax reconciliations and audits
Processing
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including time card approval, salaries, bonus, commission, benefits, garnishments, taxes, other deductions for new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
- Ensure all aspects of the payroll cycle, including tax, benefits, wage attachments, etc. are processed, reconciled, audited, approved, and transmitted accurately and in a timely manner
- Process US bi-weekly multi state payroll including employee earnings and deductions
- Support the payroll mail box by responding to employee inquires and business/cross functional partner inquiries
- Facilitate various payroll and annual 401k compliance audits
Analysis
- Analyze and respond to matters requiring knowledge of payroll policies and procedures
- Ensure consistency in payroll practices, controls, and management reporting in accordance with established policies and procedures
Compliance
- Provide clarifications to internal controls team on queries raised on testing the samples on payroll processed and co-ordinate with them for sample testing for external auditors
- Support effective internal SOX controls and proactively work to identify and implement efficiency improvements
- Maintain compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices
- Maintain desktop procedures, including flow charting and similar processes, while assessing current processes and recommending process improvements
What you'll need:
- 3-6 years of calculating & processing payroll- experience with ADP preferred
- Certification- Fundamental Payroll Certification, American Payroll Association or other recognized payroll certification
- Experience with US multi-company and multi-state payrolls with both exempt and non-exempt population
- Analytical and process orientation skills
- Understanding of US employment/labor laws
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to build trust within client groups and maintain confidentiality with sensitive data
- Experience with commission/bonus plans, and RSUs
- Self-starter, team player who is highly motivated and creative
- Excellent processing skills and attention to detail
