We are seeking an industrially experienced Opto-Electronics Assembler to join our expanding hardware team for the assembly of telescope optics, star sensor optics, and electronics, along with their mechanical housings. As an Opto-Electronics Assembler, you will be responsible for the precise assembling of optical components like lenses, mirrors, prisms, spacers, and stops for space applications. Equipment level responsibilities are assembly of optics modules with sensor modules and assembly of PCBs, electronic boards & battery chassis. You will ensure proper assembly procedures, steps, and updates, having constant communication with hardware
(optics, mechanical, and electronics) designers. You will also have to add your skills and knowledge through academics and experiences to oversee the successful transfer of processes to production.
General Responsibilities:
- Assemble, clean, and inspect optical assemblies for the production line.
- Troubleshoot, test, and repair company products or sub-assemblies as required.
- Assist in the development and implementation of optical assembly procedures.
- Identify defective products or materials during production, as required by company procedures.
- Assist in the acceptance and testing of incoming parts for assembly.
- Responsible for all phases of the optical fabrication precision assembly process, including inspecting, cleaning, bonding/assembling, testing, and packing of the finished product.
- Perform visual surface inspection of all optical components to ISO standards.
- Support Engineering in new product development.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Optics, and Quality Assurance to ensure standards are met and products conform to customer requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly instructions.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes, practices, tooling, fixtures, assemblies, and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high productivity levels consistently.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and previous experience working with optical components.
- Perfect visual acuity and ability to identify optical imperfections.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to express ideas in individual and group situations and work collaboratively in a team.
Experience & Education:
- 3+ years of related work experience in the optical field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience and training.
- Experience with electro-optical device assembly is an asset.
