Role Overview:
As the Operations Manager, you will be the P&L owner for the operations division, overseeing all strategic and day-to-day operations across supply chain management, procurement, and category management. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, cost efficiencies, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the company's supply chain processes. You will lead teams across multiple functions, aligning them with the company's business goals, and delivering superior operational results.
Key Responsibilities:
P&L Ownership:
- Manage and oversee the Profit & Loss (P&L) for the operations division, ensuring financial targets are met and optimized.
- Monitor and control operating costs, implementing strategies for cost reduction and efficiency improvements without compromising quality.
- Work closely with finance and leadership teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for operations.
Category Management & Procurement Leadership:
- Lead the procurement function, developing strategies to ensure timely sourcing of materials at the best possible cost and quality.
- Collaborate with category managers to develop sourcing strategies and manage supplier relationships.
- Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
Operational Excellence:
- Lead and optimize day-to-day operations in line with company goals, focusing on supply chain efficiency, production, logistics, and inventory management.
- Implement best practices for manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, and distribution to ensure smooth and cost-effective operations.
- Monitor key operational performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure targets are achieved across various functions.
Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Develop and execute long-term strategic plans for operational growth, expansion, and improvement.
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies, processes, and systems to drive operational efficiency and scalability.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Set clear objectives, provide coaching, and evaluate team performance to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Collaborate with HR to develop talent acquisition, retention, and training strategies.
Supply Chain Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end supply chain processes, ensuring that products are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Strengthen relationships with suppliers and third-party logistics providers to ensure smooth operations.
Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a key liaison between senior management, other department heads, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution of company strategies.
- Present regular reports on operational performance, challenges, and opportunities to the leadership team.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Qualification:
- B.Tech/B.E. or B.Com
- MBA in Operations, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (mandatory).
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience as a P&L owner, category manager, or head of procurement within the FMCG sector.
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain management, procurement, logistics, and category management.
- Hands-on experience in managing large, complex teams and leading cross-functional projects.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of ERP systems, supply chain management software, and data analysis tools.
- Excellent command over Excel, PowerPoint, and other presentation tools.
- Experience in implementing and managing Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and adapt to changing environments.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze and manage budgets and P&L.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth FMCG environment.
- Familiarity with sourcing and supply chain management.
- Previous experience with e-commerce or direct-to-consumer (D2C) business models is a plus.
