Management of Surgical Operations: Oversee the smooth functioning of the operation theatre, ensuring that all surgical procedures are conducted efficiently and safely.
Staff Supervision: Coordinate and supervise the activities of OT staff including surgeons, nurses, technicians, and support staff. Assign duties and responsibilities as needed.
Resource Management: Manage and allocate resources such as surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure availability for scheduled procedures.
Maintaining Sterility: Ensure that the operation theatre environment meets strict standards of cleanliness and sterility to minimize the risk of infections during surgeries.
Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate with biomedical engineers or maintenance staff to ensure that surgical equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement protocols for handling emergency situations during surgeries. Ensure that OT staff are trained in emergency procedures and equipment usage.
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of surgical supplies and consumables. Coordinate with procurement staff to order supplies as needed.
Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and best practices in surgical care. Conduct periodic audits and quality assurance checks.
Patient Safety: Prioritize patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process. Address any concerns or issues raised by patients or their families regarding the surgical experience.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, including pre-operative assessments, intra-operative notes, and post-operative care plans.
