Office assistants perform a variety of tasks to keep an office running smoothly, including administrative tasks, receptionist duties, and providing office support:
- Receptionist duties: Greet visitors, applicants, and clients, and answer phones
Administrative tasks: Handle email, faxes, files, meeting minutes, mailings, and deliveries- Office support: Provide communications support by fielding calls, answering questions, forwarding messages, and confirming customer orders
Other tasks: Maintain the office, order supplies, and ensure equipment is working
Office assistants may also:
- Prepare letters, memos, forms, and reports
Schedule appointments and travel arrangements- Assist with organizing events
Conduct research and compile data
- Perform light accounting duties
