Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
- Lead the NPD process for new automotive products.
- Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Collaborate with engineering, design, manufacturing, marketing, and sales teams.
- Facilitate communication and coordination among various departments.
- Organize and lead project meetings and reviews.
- Market and Customer Analysis:
- Conduct market research to identify customer needs and market trends.
- Translate customer requirements into product specifications.
- Work closely with marketing and sales to define product positioning and go-to-market strategies.
- Product Design and Development:
- Oversee the design and development of new automotive products.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Review and approve design specifications and prototypes.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with new product development.
- Implement contingency plans to address potential issues.
- Vendor and Supplier Management:
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of components.
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts.
- Budget and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage project budgets.
- Monitor and control costs throughout the product development cycle.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that new products meet quality and reliability standards.
- Work with quality assurance teams to implement testing and validation procedures.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed project documentation.
- Provide regular project status reports to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Product Design, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in product development, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Proven track record of managing new product development projects.
- Strong knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CAD software and design tools.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma or other quality management methodologies.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or similar is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel as needed.
- May require working extended hours to meet project deadlines.
