The Networking Managed Services Engineer (L2) is a developing engineering role, responsible for providing a managed service to clients to ensure that their IT infrastructure and systems remain operational through proactively monitoring, identifying, investigating, and resolving technical incidents and problems and restoring service to clients.
The primary objective of this role is to proactively review client requests or tickets and apply technical/process knowledge to resolve them without breaching service level agreement (SLA) and focuses on second-line support for incidents and requests with a medium level of complexity.
The Networking Managed Services Engineer (L2) may also contribute to / support on project work as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
What you'll be doing
- Design, implement and support solutions involving LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SDWAN.
- Design, implement and support Data Center network.
- Should have good knowledge and experience of Cisco Nexus network devices.
- Should have Good knowledge and experience of L3 protocol Static, Default, HSRP, VRRP, PBR, OSPF and BGP.
- Should have Good knowledge and experience on L2 Protocol, STP, VTP, RSTP, and L2 Security.
- Should have Good knowledge and experience of Stack, ether-channel, VSS, VPC and Stack wise virtual switch.
- Should have Good knowledge and experience on Cisco ISE NAC and AAA (Including LDAP, radius and Tacacs).
- Should have Strong Knowledge of IPv4 address and Subnetting.
- Should have knowledge of cloud base networks like OCI and AWS cloud.
- Analyze, evaluate, and communicate network capacity and performance with the objective of driving improvements to the customer's network.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects.
- Responsible for maintaining customer network documentation such as engineering design document, record of change, and network diagrams.
- Responsible for presentations and demonstrations related to technology, process, or client solutions.
- Requires ownership of design and critical issues, creative thinking, and problem resolution skills.
- Responsible for the protection of our customer proprietary network information and customer information assets.
- Monitoring Availability of Switches and Routers
- Monitoring CPU and Memory Utilization for Routers and Switches
- Monitoring Port Status of uplink and other critical interfaces for Routers and Switches
- Monitoring and control configuration aspects like IP address, subnet mask, DNS settings, Routing, VLAN etc.
- Switch, Router, Link troubleshooting and recovery in case of any outage
- Device Configuration management
- ISE Onboarding of devices & users, policy management
- Configuration Backup Management
- Perform analysis and reporting on Network Availability and Network Quality
- Incident, Service Request, Change and Problem Management in Network domain.
- Monitoring Device Availability
- Network devices Backup Management.
- WLAN Configuration fine-tuning.
- Device Administrative activities like compression, QoS & policy configurations
- Involve in new network related project implementation
- Preparation of Technical & Process SOPs in network domain.
Required Experience
- Moderate level of relevant managed services experience.
- Moderate level knowledge in ticketing tools preferably Service Now.
