Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology, working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.
- Experience with bill of materials (BOMs), Deployment Package (DPK) device management and complete workflows, identifying network issues, and assisting in determining appropriate solutions.
- Experience in a data center or PoP environment, OSP, ISP, AC/DC power systems, environmental controls relay rack/cabinet/cage construction.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in collaboration across multiple levels and functions.
Experience in telecommunications, particularly at carrier class scale with a working knowledge of large optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers and data services.
- Experience in network infrastructure, communication, stakeholder management, project management, network operations, investigative thinking, navigating ambiguity, collaboration and influencing.
- Passion for engaging/influencing tactically and strategically decision-making.

As a Network Implementation Engineer, you will be the initial point of our efforts to execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will work with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position your team and organization for success.

Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google's data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Own and serve as point of contact for Network Capacity Delivery team responsible for the execution, implementation of network build, operations and maintenance across data centers, point-of-presence (POP) and colocations.
- Work with Core, Transport and Edge teams to translate common network solutions into standard and scalable BOMs and detailed design packages for select internal or third-parties to execute across multiple sites simultaneously providing technical support.
- Work closely with project management, network engineering, partner teams to identify in advance potential problems in network installations, troubleshoot capacity workflows for edge network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
- Support Design teams, Deployment teams, Peering Negotiators, and Planners as needed to deliver connectivity to the Google network.
