Job Description
The Network Engineer will play a key role in managing day-to-day network operations, with a focus on network change management, problem management, and knowledge management. The individual will also handle network-related administrative tasks such as updating the CMDB, processing network invoices, and performing routine BAU technical tasks. A strong foundation in networking concepts (CCNA-level) is required, with opportunities to develop deeper technical expertise as the role evolves.
This role offers a unique combination of operational and technical responsibilities, providing the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in network management. Key Responsibilities
Network Change and Problem Management: Oversee the lifecycle of network changes and problem resolution, ensuring adherence to best practices and timely issue resolution.
Queue Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for network-related requests, managing the ticket queue and ensuring issues are addressed promptly and efficiently.
Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for common network issues and solutions, while documenting procedures and best practices.
Invoice Management: Process network-related invoices through Ariba, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments and financial management.
Asset Management (CMDB): Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of network assets in the CMDB, maintaining oversight of the network infrastructure.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including security, infrastructure, and vendors, to ensure seamless network operations.
Reporting and Metrics: Provide regular reports on network performance, change management activities, and problem resolution, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Required Qualifications
Technical Knowledge: CCNA certification or equivalent experience in network fundamentals, particularly in routing and switching.
Experience with Tools: Proficiency in queue management systems (e.g., ServiceNow), network asset management systems (CMDB), and financial management systems (e.g., Ariba).
Communication Skills: Strong ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams, ensuring clear and concise communication of technical issues and documentation.
Administrative Skills: Demonstrated experience in managing network documentation, handling knowledge management systems, and ensuring compliance with network support
