About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced MS SQL DBA to join our database administration team. The role involves managing and securing MS SQL databases, ensuring their performance, availability, and integrity, and supporting our organization's data needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain MS SQL databases, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements to enhance system efficiency.
- Security: Implement and manage database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management to protect data.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability in case of system failures.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments, applying patches and updates to mitigate risks.
- Database Design: Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database schemas and queries, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Automation: Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline database administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and security protocols.
- Support: Provide technical support to development teams and users, troubleshooting database-related issues and ensuring smooth operations.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience: 3-8 years of experience in database administration with a focus on MS SQL.
Skills:
- Proficiency in MS SQL database administration and optimization.
- Strong knowledge of database security practices and vulnerability management.
- Experience with backup and recovery strategies and tools.
- Knowledge of SQL and database performance tuning techniques.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as T-SQL, PowerShell, or Python.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
