Job Title: Manager 1, Payroll

Manages the activities of the payroll function. Develops policies and procedures for payroll process and timekeeping. Ensures the generation of the company payroll, including labor distribution records, vacation and sick leave accrual, overtime and withholding status. Meets all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding, and employer contributions. May be responsible for sales tax payment and/or stock administration.

Good inter-personal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and solve problems analytically. Able to interact with different levels of management and people with different personality styles.

Possesses a full understanding of specialization area plus working knowledge of multiple related areas. Customarily manages the coordination of the activities of a department with responsibility for priority-setting and results, including costs, methods and staffing. Acts as an advisor to employees to meet schedules and/or resolve problems. Develops and administers schedules and performance requirements for department. Regularly receives assignments in the form of objectives and uses discretion and independent judgment to determine how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to employees within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s). Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interacts with senior internal personnel, functional peer group managers, and external customers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other business units, or customers and the company. Leads a cooperative effort among members of a project team.

Member of the Finance team who ensure accurate processing and recording of company's payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information. Operates as the subject matter expert, continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and designs and implements those initiatives.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Payroll processing:
    • Partnership with HR and other Business Units for payroll processing and reimbursements
    • Co-ordination and monitoring payroll service provider.
    • Ensure compliance with respect to ESPP/RSU/ESOP corporate plan and timely reporting to Shareholder Servicing team.
    • Employee loan management and all payroll reconciliation including FBP recons.
    • Monthly Payroll cost accounting in SAP in a timely manner.
    • Ensure Final settlements are processed in a timely manner.
    • Employee Benefits management.
    • Payroll accounting, review & reconciliation.
    • Statutory audit and audit related supporting activities.
Compliance

    • Statutory compliances with respect to Income tax, Provident Fund, PT, Gratuity, ESI and other relevant Acts and labour laws.
    • Preparation and Co-ordination with Statutory auditors and ensures smooth completion of Statutory audit related to payroll and Gratuity Trust

  • MIS reports
    • Preparation of monthly and quarterly payroll cost variance report ( CC wise, BU wise and function wise ).
    • Preparation of monthly payroll MIS and adhoc reports for management

  • Others:
    • Providing inputs for cash forecast
    • Conducting NEO sessions for new hires at all locations.
    • Liaise with Gratuity and Superannuation Trust Fund managers and ensure compliances
    • Liaison with Actuary and obtain quarterly reports and interpret for management.
Job Requirements

  • 10+ yrs of experience in handling payroll of IT companies
  • BCom/MCom/ MBA
  • Expertize knowledge of Income Tax, Provident Fund, Gratuity Act
  • Exposure to labour law compliances.
  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Must have good interpersonal, written and verbal communications and good presentation skills.
