You will be responsible for interpreting meteorological data, delivering weather reports, and studying climate change patterns. Ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of atmospheric science and excellent data analysis skills.
Responsibilities:
Carry out model run of WRF and carry out dynamical downscaling of global circulation model to produce downscaled forecasts or evaluate climate change scenarios.
Evaluating the data generated from the model run.
Preparing and developing bias correction algorithms to improve the accuracy of the numerical weather predictions.
conduct synoptic and mesoscale numerical weather prediction experiments to develop techniques to exploit new observation sources for forecast improvement.
Carry out data assimilation for numerical weather prediction.
Providing customers with weather reports and forecasts.
Continuous monitoring of weather forecasting process and development of tools and algorithms to constantly improve forecasting accuracy.
Researching and evaluating new developments in meteorology, climate prediction and weather forecasting to benefit from fast changing atmospheric sciences discipline.
Skills Required:
Thorough knowledge of running and interpreting numerical weather prediction models like WRF and GFS.
Knowledge of evaluating numerical weather prediction model performance, for deterministic or probabilistic predictions.
Recording and analyzing data from worldwide weather stations, satellites, radars and remote sensors.
Interpreting observations from the land, sea and upper atmosphere.
Thorough skills associated with statistical analysis and systems programming including ability to carry out data assimilation and model-run execution.
Ability to evaluate and develop bias correction models to improve the accuracy of the weather forecast.
Skills to communicate and prepare complex weather forecast in simple and easy to understand formats.
Expertise in scientific programming to include Fortran or C or C++, python or MATLAB, NCL or R. Experience in Linux and shell scripts.
