Responsible for overseeing the design, installation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in building projects, ensuring efficiency, sustainability and safety of our facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and coordination of MEP systems for building projects, including HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), electrical distribution, lighting, plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into building designs, ensuring functionality, efficiency and compliance with building codes and standards.
- Conduct feasibility studies, energy analyses and life cycle cost assessments to optimize MEP system designs for performance, energy efficiency and sustainability.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation for MEP systems, using computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) software.
- Evaluate and select MEP equipment, materials and components, considering factors such as performance, reliability, cost and environmental impact.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning and testing of MEP systems during construction, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards and safety regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, contractors and subcontractors throughout the construction phase, addressing design-related issues and coordinating MEP installations.
- Conduct site inspections and performance tests to verify the proper functioning and efficiency of MEP systems, identifying and resolving deficiencies as needed.
- Develop maintenance plans and schedules for MEP systems, including preventive maintenance activities, equipment inspections and troubleshooting procedures.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends and regulatory changes related to MEP systems, incorporating best practices and innovative solutions into project designs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification required.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in MEP engineering, with a focus on building design and construction.
- Comprehensive knowledge of MEP systems, codes, standards and regulations, including ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC and local building codes.
- Proficiency in MEP design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP and/or Navisworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex engineering challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven track record of successfully managing MEP engineering projects from concept to completion, meeting project objectives, budgets and deadlines.
- Familiarity with sustainable design principles, energy modeling tools and LEED certification requirements.
