Medical Coder

Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coder with 1-2 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately assigning codes to medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes. The candidate should be proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, possess excellent attention to detail and be able to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to medical diagnoses and procedures for billing and reimbursement purposes
• Review medical records and other documentation to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with legal requirements
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations and changes to ensure compliance

Skills and Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in medical coding
• Experience in EM OP, EM IP, Surgery, Denials, EM with Anesthesia/ EM with Pathology
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred
• Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
