MDE works in the PowerDrive Systems organization collaborating with Program Lead Engineers and support CAE Engineers
He must be capable of completing work requests from the Program Lead Engineer(s) to meet program performance requirements and timing
He must co-ordinate between design and analysis work requests from the team members and co-ordinate with manufacturing, purchasing, component engineering and suppliers for component release
In addition to component design and development, the MDE is responsible for generating 2D and 3D CAD data of these designs
He should work under minimal supervision while developing designs, and stack-ups of individual parts or assemblies
He is also responsible for checking detail drawings and layouts which also includes producing detail drafting and other drafting related tasks as required
Key responsibilities
Strong understanding of automotive ECU controller and/or Electric Driveline and/or Traditional (ICE) Driveline systems and components. (Controller and/or Inverter etc.. )
Understanding and interpretation of component and sub-system design requirements provided by program leads.
Generating design concepts and creation of math models independently to support program team.
Creation of part, assembly drawings and 3D models using Unigraphics NX.
Able to perform engineering calculations for component and/or sub-systems.
Thorough knowledge of component drawing, including tolerances with GD&T, and their use in stack-up calculation.
Knowledge on component and/or sub-system DFMEAs used to define Special Characteristics
Knowledge about ADVP&R and similar component & system requirements at component & system level.
Conducting DRR (Design Release Review) and creating work products (drawings, specifications, etc.) per program timing
Being the point of contact for technical discussions with Program Manager, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Supplier Development Engineers
Understanding and implementation for PDP (Product Development Process) and EDF (Engineering Development Framework)
Promoting component re-use through knowledge of the global component family
Reviewing / Approving internal and external change requests
Providing technical support for component issues arising in validation or warranty
Providing cost reduction ideas for their respective component families.
Conducting and documenting benchmarking and lessons learned reviews
