Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer - Intern will work closely with our battery R&D team to experiment, analyse, and optimise charging profiles for advanced battery systems. This role involves hands-on experimentation, data collection, and analysis to improve battery performance and lifecycle. It provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure to innovative EV technology and contribute to real-world solutions in the sustainable mobility sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Understanding Cell Cycling and Data Collection including charge/discharge cycles and health metrics.
- Set up and operate lab equipment like cyclers and battery testing setups while adhering to safety protocols and collect and log data related to charge/discharge cycles, voltage, current, temperature, and capacity degradation.
- Experimentation with Different Charging Profiles and conduct baseline tests using standard charging profiles to establish reference performance metrics.
- Design and execute experiments with various fast-charging profiles, optimising parameters such as current rates, charging times, and rest intervals.
- Analyse the impact of different profiles on battery lifecycle, focusing on both short-term capacity and long-term health.
- Evaluate cycle performance data to determine efficiency, cycle life, and capacity degradation rates and develop basic predictive models (potentially utilizing Machine Learning) for estimating lifecycle impacts based on charging profiles.
- Identify optimal charging curves using data-driven approaches to balance speed and battery longevity.
- Maintain detailed documentation of experiments, methodologies, and results and prepare interim and final reports summarizing key findings and recommended practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore machine learning applications in battery health monitoring.

Note
- This internship is for 6 months, with the potential for extension to a full-time role based on individual performance.
- Candidates with relevant hands-on experience or academic projects in EV technology or battery systems will be given preference
