Job Summary 1
We currently have an opportunity available for a Mechanical Engineer. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will ensure successful execution of the specification, design, qualification, and installation of new and modified capital equipment. As a Mechanical Engineer you will be involved with a wide array of construction and equipment such as; building modifications & construction, power transmission equipment, small and large rotating equipment, piping, pumps, blowers, vacuum systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, tanks, pressure vessels, bulk storage silos, exhaust systems, HVAC and many more. We are seeking candidates with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (required) with 3-10 years of design and project management experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to research and learn.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for meeting project deadlines.
- Responsible for meeting project budget estimates.
- Coordinate meetings between company and customers, or vendors.
- Collaborate with a customer on an approach to a problem.
- Develop appropriate solution for customer problem.
- Advise customers as technical expert before and after sale.
- Write project specifications.
- Provide equipment startup supervision or assistance at on-site and customer site.
- Conceptual design of automation and motion control and robotic solutions to customer problems.
- Design in CAD of solutions.
- Creation of drawing and documentation packages.
- Creation of user manuals for programs written.
- Setup and program robotic systems.
- Setup and program vision systems.
- Perform internal design reviews with all project disciplines.
Requirements & Skills 2
- 4-year college degree majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- 3-10 years of technical/professional training.
- Knowledge of motion control, robotics, vision systems and automation are also preferred.
- Capital equipment design experience is preferred, preferably in the food packaging industry.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D design software preferred.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks with a diversity of problems.
- Most work is done independently without close supervision.
- Strong technical skills in materials, manufacturing, quality, and product design skills.
- Ability to use CAD to design equipment and associated systems along with facility layouts.
- Ability to determine if tooling, equipment and part designs meet requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrated superior communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to accurately quote design, tools/equipment, and parts.
- Ability to develop and meet project schedules, along with contingency plans.
- Demonstrated ability to develop project budgets and meet financial goals.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and develop future needs.
- Demonstrated ability to think out of the box and recommend options.
