Wizcom, a leading provider of digital reading aids, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (ME Design Engineer) to join our team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing mechanical components and systems for our innovative products.
In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure optimum functionality, manufacturability, and quality of our products. You will be responsible for concept creation, 3D modeling and drafting, conducting simulations and analysis, and creating detailed design documentation.

Requirements
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Mechanical Design:
- Design and develop mechanical enclosures, housings, and internal structures for embedded electronic devices
- Create 3D CAD models and detailed technical drawings
- Select materials and components based on performance, reliability, and cost considerations
- Conduct thermal analysis and simulations to ensure optimal heat dissipation
- Prototyping and Testing
- Build and test mechanical prototypes to validate design concepts and identify potential issues
- Conduct environmental and reliability testing to ensure product robustness
- Collaborate with the testing team to define and execute mechanical test plans
- Manufacturing Support:
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure a smooth transition from design to production
- Provide technical support during the manufacturing process to address any mechanical issues
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and manufacturing techniques
- Identify and implement opportunities for design optimisation and cost reduction
KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Experience:
- 4 to 6 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably for embedded electronic products
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.) including surface modelling
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and mechanical testing
- Experience with global teams is highly valuable
Skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, thermal management and manufacturing processes, in particular injection moulding
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with thermal management techniques is a plus
- It is beneficial to have an understanding of electronics packaging and PCB layout considerations
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software is considered an additional asset
- Good to have familiarity with regulatory compliance standards for electronic products
- Good to have Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
