Engineer Mechanical Design works with global engineering teams to create CAD models, drawings, balloon drawing and DIRs and maintains them in PDM/PLM. Also, should be preparing the ECOs for the changes and do necessary follow ups with various cross functions on approvals wherever required. Should be completing the tasks with in established standard effort hours and meet quality metrics.

This position is located in Bangalore, India.

In addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are:

Key Responsibilities

  • Design or redesign complex models & drawings from general written or verbal specifications per project requirement.
  • Produce CAD drawings for new or improved products using Armstrong standards & best practices.
  • Work with other teams to obtain reference information for drawings.
  • Work with project team to execute projects on time and on budget.
  • Review design models to find & resolve problems involving compatibility with basic design concepts.
  • Participate in engineering and manufacturing design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations.
  • Read and understand 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Make corrections to the drawings as and when required thru EAR & ECO.
  • Create and update database of design records for future reference purposes.
  • Assist team in CAD drawing and designing tasks.
  • Able to co-ordinate with cross functional teams for DCR/ECO/EAR implementations.

Role Requirements


  • Diploma or BE/BTech in Mechanical/Tool & Die Design from a reputed Institute.
  • In plant/Apprenticeship Training in Design (Mechanical) from a reputed Institute/ Organization.
  • 2 3 years experience
  • Have good understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Hands-on experience in 3D modeling and 2D drafting of parts per industry standards using any 3DCAD software's SolidWorks, UGNX, Pro-E, CATIA. Solidworks preferred.
  • A Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) will be advantage.
  • Experience in creation of manufacturing and assembly drawings per ASME/DIN/BIS drafting standards is required.
  • ERP knowledge will be an added advantage.
  • Understanding of Change order implementation.
  • Good knowledge of commonly used materials in the industry, their key mechanical properties and applications.
  • Experience in pumping products manufacturing industry is an added advantage.
  • Good communication skills.
