Job Title: Desktop Engineer
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Desktop Engineer to join our team and provide technical support for our organization's desktop computing environment. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in hardware troubleshooting, cabling management, basic networking, domain environment and Wi-Fi troubleshooting. This role involves diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, deploying and configuring desktop systems, and ensuring smooth operation of our desktop infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform hardware installations, upgrades, and repairs on desktop computers, laptops, and peripherals.
2. Manage cabling infrastructure, including installation, maintenance, and organization.
3. Provide basic networking support, including troubleshooting network connectivity issues, configuring TCP/IP settings, and diagnosing network hardware problems.
4. Conduct basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting, including troubleshooting connectivity issues, configuring access points, and resolving interference problems.
5. Install, configure, and maintain desktop operating systems and software applications.
6. Respond to service requests and technical support inquiries in a timely manner, escalating issues as needed to higher-level support teams.
7. Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, software licenses, and service agreements.
8. Collaborate with other IT team members to implement and maintain desktop security measures, backup procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
9. Assist in the development and documentation of desktop support procedures and best practices.
10. Stay current with industry trends and technologies related to desktop computing and IT support.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
2. Proven experience as a Desktop Support Engineer or similar role.
3. Strong knowledge of hardware components and troubleshooting techniques.
4. Familiarity with cabling standards and practices.
5. Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and LAN/WAN technologies.
6. Experience with Wi-Fi technology and troubleshooting.
7. Proficiency in desktop operating systems, including Windows and macOS.
8. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
11. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA) are a plus.
