Job Description
As a Manufacturing Quality Manager at Xponent Power, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, execution, operational effectiveness, and efficiency of our manufacturing processes and product assembly. Your responsibilities will include:
Quality Control and Assurance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures to ensure the highest standards of quality for all products
Leading and supervising suppliers, 3 party partners, and internal resources to execute the Quality Management Process- Ensuring production yield and on time delivery through effective management of suppliers and manufacturing partners
Collaborate with contract manufacturers to ensure compliance with best-in-class technical methods and manufacturing processes
- Oversight and timely reporting of the inspection and testing of incoming and outgoing materials to ensure they meet established quality standards
Monitor and evaluate manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary- Ensure all manufacturing processes, including casting, extrusion, sheet forming, printed circuit board assembly, and metal coating, adhere to industry standards and company requirements
Have a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), materials, and various manufacturing methods
- Develop and maintain documentation for quality assurance processes, including inspection records, factory audits, test results, and quality reports
Conduct regular audits of contract manufacturers to ensure compliance with quality standards and identify opportunities for improvement- Lead and mentor a team of quality assurance professionals, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals
Work closely with design, engineering, and production teams to address quality issues and implement solutions
Skills Required:
- Experience managing quality projects, including setting objectives, timelines, and deliverables
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), materials, and various manufacturing methods
Proven experience working with contract manufacturers and overseeing complex manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in using quality management software, statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP), and other relevant engineering software (e.g., CAD tools)
Understanding of quality assurance processes for PCBA manufacturing- Continuous Improvement: Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
Proficiency in using quality assurance tools and methodologies, such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- ASTM/IPC/ISO/UL/IEC Compliance standards familiarity
Change Management: Adaptability to process changes and improvements- Equipment Validation: Experience with equipment run-off and validation
Error-Proofing: Implementing measures to prevent errors and defects
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across different organizations- Proficiency in quality assurance software and tools
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma, or similar certification is a plus
- Ability to travel to supplier sites and manufacturing facilities as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field
Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in a hardware design and manufacturing environment
