Manufacturing Engineer - Special Process

Academic qualification: BE in Metallurgy. Post-graduation in any of these disciplines would be an added advantage
Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a process expert or metallurgist involved in establishment and standardization of heat treatment processes in auto component or automotive industry. He should process working knowledge in metallurgy of metals and be capable of analyzing and solving problems related to metallurgical issues
Job description: This role will be responsible for:
Standardising heat treatment processes and equipment for steel forgings across manufacturing locations
Standardising surface protection processes such as powder coating, anodizing and chromating
Installation and commissioning of new equipment for heat treatment and surface protection
Defining and establishing safety and material handling standards for special processes
Optimisation of special processes for quality and productivity
Conduct periodic audit of adherence to special processes
Documentation and characterization of special processes
Key Functional Competencies: The person must possess hands-on experience in conducting and establishing special processes such as:
Heat treatment of forged steel crankshafts, disc brake levers through induction, carburizing and plasma nitriding processes.
Joining processes such as welding and seaming
Surface protection processes such as powder coating, anodizing, chromating and painting.
He must possess domain knowledge in characterization of parts for physical metallurgy, chemical composition and surface characteristics. He must possess troubleshooting experience in the above special processes. He must have working experience in specifying production equipment for the above processes, and development including installation, commissioning and productionising equipment for the same.

On-time commissioning of special process equipment
Audit and sustain adherence to work standards
Productivity improvement in special processes
Safety and material handling improvements in special processes
Shelf-engineering new process technology based on BoP
