Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical leadership to identify manual and automated
equipment needed to support manufacturing and conveyor assembly. The incumbent will profile
methodologies and capabilities of equipment manufacturers to support process development
and ongoing operations. They will introduce new process technologies to maximize capital
utilization and minimize time to volume; will work with management to assess, understand, and
develop equipment vendor capabilities and write equipment specification documentation

Essential Functions
General Job Duties:
- Research, design, and develop optimal, cost-effective processes and methods
in accordance with specifications and quality standards using LEAN principles.
- Conduct time studies of production to develop standard work and to develop and
maintain SOPs.
- Prepare facility layouts as needed.
- Process engineering change orders.
- Assist in managing capital projects including writing the capital requests and
managing the installation of the new equipment.
- Monitor quality discrepancies and, identify trends and investigate quality problems
in order to implement corrective actions.
- Work alongside manufacturing process improver(s) to order and set up tooling
and fixtures needed in the assigned department.
- Champion the programs associated with offline programming of machinery. (Laser,
Press Brake, and CNC Machining Centers).
- Provide technical support to all processes.
- Drive cost reduction and optimal quality.
- Works with customer service/ project managers at all branches to
communicate production timing and for critical or hot jobs.
- Identifies continuous improvement opportunities and work with the
manufacturing manager to coordinate resources to address
Superior Performance Objectives
- Build and standardize process development systems, capabilities, and tools in
partnership with the manufacturing management team.
- Support identification of key process risks by performing assessments and reviews.
(JSAs).
- Utilize quality by design approaches in process development.
- Use engineering principles in process/ equipment designs.
- Implement standards and best practices for process engineering studies.
- Work with equipment vendors/ in-house engineering team to develop and implement
proof of concept technology assessments and technical studies, develop process
documentation, document technical rationale for technology selections.
- Profile and prioritize new technologies against current and future applications.
SAFETY: Ensure overall job environmental, health, and safety aspects are met. Identify and eliminate safety concerns.
Requirements
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong mechanical design aptitude.
- Strong technical drawing skills.
- Extremely computer literate with general Microsoft Office products.
- Candidates should be able to apply lean manufacturing principles in accordance with
Toyota Production System.
- Ability to read and produce fabrication drawings using a CAD package, SolidWorks
preferred.
Operational knowledge or general competency of CNC lasers, press brakes, milling machines,
powder coating, and welding preferred
