Identity Services owns the systems that enable authenticating and identifying every Amazon customer in the world. As a manager of the Identity team, you will take the Authentication charter to next level. You will be responsible for large, multi-year initiatives, while finding the right balance between building for immediate needs and building sustainable architectures. You will lead a software development team to meet challenging authentication and security related goals, and help us stay ahead of future challenges. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product.
You are expected to be a hands-on technical manager who understands and sets a high bar for all parts of the software development and deployment life-cycle including: design, development, documentation, testing and operations. You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment. . Lead engineering team in executing against project plans, and delivery commitments.
. Delivery of high-quality, scalable software on-time and on-budget.
. Define, implement, and maintain a coherent, progressive development strategy for our product line.
. Evolve the software engineering practice within the organization
. Drive the organization development by hiring, and developing talent within the group.
. Conduct performance reviews of team members.
. Translate business, functional, and technical requirements into detailed project plans.
. Define our technical culture, and help build a fast-growing team
About the team
Identity Services mission is to deliver the world's most secure, convenient, and intuitive Identity experience. We own backend functionality for customer authentication, customer attributes, profiles for customers sharing a single account (PCA), and household relationships, across all web, mobile, and device apps worldwide.
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
